Kilbey's Creatures

Menu

5 years ago, I adopted Barney, a rescue dog from Romania, thinking I was gaining a hiking partner, a coffee date and my forever plus 1 to outdoor events.

However, it quickly became apparent that a bad start in life had left Barney with severe reactivity to other dogs, humans, bikes, and anything unfamiliar to him. Everyday walks became stressful, simple trips to a coffee shop weren't possible and seeing another dog approaching immediately spiked my heart rate.

Four years later, he is still very much a work in progress, but his behaviour has improved so drastically you would barely believe he is the same dog.

One surprising issue I discovered when first dealing with reactivity was finding someone to care for him who I trusted, and felt could handle him. We must have tried five or six different dog walkers until we found someone who we were comfortable leaving him with, and it took such a weight off of our shoulders. That's why I started this business - to be that person for other people. Since adopting Barney, I've spent years learning about canine body language, behaviour and positive, force-free training methods, and I use that knowledge every day when caring for my clients' pets.

Today, I specialise in one-to-one dog walking and pet sitting across Rotherham and surrounding areas, including reactive, nervous and fearful dogs. Owners of these types of dogs deserve to go on holidays too, and I aim to make that as stress free as possible for you.

Whether your dog loves long countryside walks, your cat prefers head scratches at home, or your rabbit just needs someone to stick to their routine, my goal is always the same: to give you complete peace of mind while you're away.

Services

Solo Dog Walking

£15 for 30 minutes

£25 per hour

Every dog deserves a walk that feels safe, calm and completely tailored to their individual needs. For reactive, anxious or nervous dogs, a walk isn’t just about exercise - it’s about building confidence, reducing stress, and creating positive experiences at a pace they can cope with.

I specialise in one-to-one dog walking, meaning your dog has my full attention from the moment I collect them, until they are safely back home. There are no other dogs, no pressure, and each walk is tailored to your dogs triggers, threshold and comfort levels.

Some dogs benefit from quiet, low-distraction routes, while others may enjoy gentle sniffing walks in familiar areas. We always move at your dog’s pace, allowing them to make choices and build confidence gradually.

Pet Drop-In Visits

£12 for 30 minutes

£20 per hour

Every visit is carried out using a calm, patient and compassionate approach, helping your pets feel safe and settled while you're away.

Housesitting

For many pets, there truly is no place like home. Staying in their own familiar environment helps maintain routine, comfort and security while you’re away, making it a far less stressful experience than unfamiliar settings such as kennels or catteries.

This is especially important for anxious, nervous or sensitive dogs. Being surrounded by their own scents, favourite resting spots and predictable surroundings can significantly reduce stress and help them feel safe and settled. For dogs who struggle with separation anxiety or who are easily overwhelmed by change, remaining at home can make a huge difference to their wellbeing.

I offer two tailored house sitting packages, designed to suit different levels of support depending on your pet’s needs:

Overnight Housesitting from £60 a night

Constant Care from £120 a night

Overnight House Sitting Ideal for pets who are comfortable being left for short periods during the day but benefit from overnight companionship. I stay in your home from 8:00pm to 8:00am, providing evening and morning care, company and reassurance. This package also includes a daily 60-minute walk or play session, helping your pet stay active and settled. If your pet would benefit from additional company during the day, extra drop-in visits can also be arranged

Constant Care House Sitting Designed for pets who need a higher level of support, including puppies, senior pets, anxious dogs, or those recovering from illness or surgery. With Constant Care, I remain with your pets 24 hours a day, only leaving briefly if absolutely necessary. This provides continuous companionship, supervision and reassurance, ensuring your pet is never left alone and can maintain their routine with minimal disruption.

Training Support

From £35 per hour

My Training Support sessions are designed to reinforce the work you're already doing at home, providing calm, positive guidance while actively involving you in the training process so you can continue building progress between sessions. I work with you and your dog as a team, helping you both understand and apply simple, effective techniques in real-life situations.

As the owner of a reactive rescue dog, I understand how challenging training can be and how important consistency is. While I am not a qualified dog trainer or behaviourist, I have years of experience learning about canine body language and positive training through my own journey, and I support owners working on basic training goals.

Training Support may be suitable for:

  • Loose lead walking

  • Calm behaviour around other dogs (desensitisation)

  • Building confidence in new environments

  • Reinforcing basic cues such as sit, wait and recall foundations

  • General manners and engagement on walks

If your dog has more complex behavioural needs, I will always recommend a qualified trainer or clinical behaviourist, and I’m happy to work alongside any existing plan to maintain consistency.

Based in Rotherham and covering parts of South Yorkshire, my aim is to build your dog’s confidence through patient, kind handling while giving you the skills to continue the training yourself.
